ABOUT....CYBERQUEST
You have chosen
to review the portion of ConnectGov's CyberQuest Learning System
that allows students to access text materials. These materials are
designed to add depth to student understanding of the core concepts
and principles to which they have been introduced in traditional
classroom courses.
There are a
variety of ways the CyberQuest Learning System can be used. In a
typical adoption of the CyberQuest Learning System by an individual
school or school system, we would begin by registering a group of
students for a particular course (e.g., A.P. Physics) by assigning
them a user name and password. The same registration would also
grant them access to other related course materials that might be
of value to them (e.g., Calculus). Classroom teachers would integrate
the CyberQuest Learning System materials into their lesson plans
and encourage student participation by, for example, awarding extra
credit. Students would then have access to the materials on a "24
x 7" basis. We would provide individualized reports to classroom
teachers regarding student participation and progress.
As you will
see, students easily can move back and forth between the text materials
and the self-testing questions the Robotic Teacher provides. Thus,
once students have progressed through a chapter of text materials,
they can click on the Robotic Teacher icon that appears at the end
of each subsection of text material and move immediately to a set
of questions designed to evaluate their mastery of those materials.
When the self-testing process is completed, the Robotic Teacher
immediately scores their performance. The scoring algorithm does
not merely give full credit for correct answers and no credit for
an incorrect answer. Instead, partial credit is earned even if it
takes a student more than one attempt to formulate a correct answer.
In addition, the Robotic Teacher offers advice about how the students
should proceed (e.g., to move to the next chapter or to review the
materials in the present chapter before moving on).
Here we have
provided you with the opportunity to review portions of two of our
supplemental courses. One is a chapter entitled "Linear Equations"
from our Algebra II course. The other is a chapter entitled "Kinematics"
from our A.P. Physics course. If you're ready to review one of these
topics, simply click on the appropriate choice and the sample chapter
will appear on your screen. Below, however, are a few facts about
how we have structured this site that you should take into account
before you go any further.
- We designed
the site so that it could best be viewed by your using Internet
Explorer and a screen setting of 1024 x 768, but all materials
on the site should be viewable no matter what browser or screen
setting you are using.
- To exit
from the CyberQuest Learning System text materials, either close
the browser window, click on the "Close Window" button that appears
at the right corner above the content, or mouse over the navigation and click on "Close Demo."
